Wage watchers: how much does a web designer earn?
Web designer Pierre Laurent, 28, from Halle talks about what he earns and how he spends it
What do you think of your job and your salary?
I am satisfied with both. I work as an in-house web designer, and I take home €1,400 every month. My job – designing and developing websites – is very nice and rather calm, with a relaxed atmosphere.
Would you look elsewhere if the money were better?
Whether I look elsewhere or not depends on more than the money. The atmosphere at work and the colleagues are very important too. Right now I work with very nice people.
Do you save?
I try to put a bit aside, but it isn’t always easy. I have regular outgoings that I have to watch out for, such as my €450 rent. But I would like to save – I would love to buy a flat.
What do you gladly pay for?
There are many things that I buy with great pleasure, such as comics and musical instruments. I’m a drummer and I’m in a rock band in which I sing rather than play the drums. I also draw, but it’s been a long time since I did anything about it.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
“I’d keep working and put the money away to let it yield interest” – I’m sure that’s the answer you hear the most, but in all honesty I have no idea how I’d react.
Do you have one big dream?
Let me win those Euromillions first, then I’ll see what my dream is!
