Super-fast shuttle bus service planned for Charleroi airport
A rotating service of super-fast shuttle buses is to be launched at Charleroi airport, to link the country’s second airport to Charleroi station.
A road link between Charleroi-Sud station and the airport at Gosselies constitutes the fastest ‘mobility’ solution to put into practice, announced the new Walloon Minister for Mobility Carlio Di Antonio.
Setting up a super-fast shuttle bus service requires laying out a dedicated terminal for it at the airport, as well as fitting out Charleroi station with a new departure and arrival terminal.
A shuttle bus service would be a lot less costly and quicker to set up than building a new station at Gosselies. It is estimated that it would cost €500 million to construct a new station and Infrabel, the rail infrastructure manager, said a station would be unlikely to start operating until 2027.

Yes indeed ! The existing bus service from Bruxelles-Midi is outrageously expensive. Increase the number of trains linking Bruxelles-Midi and Charleroi Sud, include the bus ride in the fare, and make sure a bus is waiting at every train arrival on all main lines from Brussels, but also Mons and Liège - and there you are ! Taking a bus from Brussels is ridiculous, really... Trains to Charleroi with buses to Gosselies will be more reliable, safer, and about as fast - and half as expensive as the current bus service from Bruxelles-Midi !! At last !!
