New high-speed rail link between Brussels Airport and Cologne from 7 September
A new high-speed train connection between Brussels Airport and Cologne from 7 September will be operated by Deutsche Bahn in cooperation with Brussels Airlines.
The ICE trains will also stop in Aachen, Liège, Leuven and Antwerp. Travel time between Cologne and Brussels Airport will be around two hours, the airline said in a statement.
A codeshare agreement between Brussels Airlines and Deutsche Bahn means that passengers can travel with one booking for the whole journey. They can benefit from a guaranteed connection in case of delays and earn miles via the Miles and More programme, it said.
“By improving rail access to our hubs and better connecting surrounding regions and cities, we are making travel more seamless, efficient and sustainable for our customers,” said Lufthansa Group’s chief commercial officer Dieter Vranckx.
“Our codeshare with Deutsche Bahn offers smooth connections in the most sustainable way. We work on more connections to come,” added Brussels Airlines’ chief executive Dorothea von Boxberg.
Tickets for the new route are already on sale.
