Stib to extend €12 annual pass to all under-25s

09:35 20/01/2022

A heavily discounted Stib season ticket for students will be extended to all under-25s in Brussels from this summer, whether they study or not.

Anyone aged 12 to 24 will be able to make unlimited journeys on the Stib network for €12 a year. This rate has already available to students since last July. It was previously €50 per year.

From this July, under-25s who are no longer in education will also benefit from the reduced €12 rate - a 97% saving on the regular €499 season ticket price.

"Every young Brussels resident should be able to get around our region without too much difficulty or expense," said Brussels minister-president Rudi Vervoort. "I hope that this new youth rate for non-students will motivate young people to make even greater use of the quality services offered by the Stib network."

Brussels mobility minister Elke Van den Brandt added: "Habits that start young stay for a very long time. The Stib gives you the freedom and the means to experience the city as a whole, not just the neighbourhood you grew up in.

"With this considerably reduced rate, we are ensuring that every young Brussels resident can enjoy this freedom."
