Penalties for resale of Tomorrowland tickets

11:15 02/02/2015

Tickets to this summer’s edition of the sold-out music festival Tomorrowland are showing up for sale on various Belgian websites with extortionate prices of up to €550 per ticket. "That's against the terms of use," spokesperson Debby Wilmsen told De Morgen, "so we have a team working to track down the tickets and cancel them."

After the start of ticket pre-sales across Belgium on 31 January, the second-hand market also got under way, with tickets being offered on auction and second-hand sites for up to €550. Some auction sites even drew people willing to pay as much as €1,250 for a ticket. Worldwide ticket sales start on 7 February.

Tomorrowland intends to fight back against the underground market. "It is stated in our terms and conditions that tickets may not be resold," says Wilmsen. "If we find out that someone is selling their tickets, we will trace the seller to cancel the tickets and block the vendor from buying tickets again next year. The cancelled tickets are then put back on sale. Last year we resold about 500 tickets in this way."
