Berlin night train to run again from March 2026

10:39 14/11/2025

The European Sleeper night train from Paris to Berlin via Brussels will be operational again from March 2026.

The connection will run every other day, alternating with the existing Brussels–Prague night train.

The train will depart from Paris-Nord and travel via Douai, Aulnoye, Mons, Brussels, Liège and Aachen to Berlin. Unlike previous routes, the connection will not run via Amsterdam.

“Since launching in 2023, European Sleeper has built a trusted reputation as one of Europe’s few independent international train operators,” the company said.

“European Sleeper has already carried over 230,000 passengers in more than 750 night trains.”

Night trains have come and gone across Europe over the last two decades and are currently experiencing somewhat of a revival, with advocacy groups such as Back-on-Track EU promoting them as an environmentally friendlier option than flights.

The Paris–Berlin night train’s original connection, which still ran via Belgium, was discontinued in 2008 and replaced by an alternative route via Strasbourg and Mannheim, without a stop in Brussels. In 2016, that connection also disappeared when the German railway company Deutsche Bahn cancelled its last night trains.

Since then, there has been no direct night train between the French and German capitals, except for a weekly Moscow–Paris train which disappeared due to the coronavirus crisis and later sanctions against Russia.

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) then introduced its Paris/Brussels–Berlin/Vienna night train, but its punctuality was poor and it was discontinued after only a short time.

With the announcement of the European Sleeper, the line is once again operational, connecting many of Europe's most important cities.
