Average speed cameras for Avenue Louise tunnels

20:21 19/12/2018

Average speed cameras will be installed on Avenue Louise from February to catch drivers speeding along the tunnels.

The radars will be placed 870 metres apart and measure the time each vehicle takes to get from beginning to end, instead of measuring speed at a single fixed point.

Drivers will be measured between the Stéphanie and Bailli tunnels. Police frequently catch drivers doing double the speed limit - and the record was 204kph.

It will be the first radar of its kind in the City of Brussels, and the second in the Brussels region after Boulevard Leopold III in Schaerbeek and Evere.
