Anderlecht’s Massimo Bruno heads to Austria

07:41 12/06/2014

The football club’s 20-year-old winger has opted to leave Belgium’s top team for Austria's Red Bull Salzburg after reports had him headed to German club Hoffenheim.

Anderlecht’s manager, Herman Van Holsbeeck, issued a statement on the club’s website thanking Bruno for his time with the team, and wished him the best in Austria. Bruno’s departure is a major loss for the club, which has already begun its search for a new left winger.

Hailing from the city of Boussu, Bruno had a breakout year with Anderlecht, playing a significant role in the team’s Pro League title, his second with the club.

Bruno praised his teammates and management for the support he received during the first two years of his professional career. He especially thanked the team’s supporters, saying that “I will not forget the most loyal fans.”
