The captain of the Red Devils, Vincent Kompany, will not play in the national team’s next World Cup match against South Korea later today.
At a press conference on Wednesday evening, Belgium’s manager, Marc Wilmots, said that Kompany had injured his groin again during training and would need “a few days’ rest” to recover. Claiming that Kompany’s injury was “not too serious”, Wilmots announced that Daniel Van Buyten would take Kompany’s defender position in Thursday’s match.
“Our opponents needn’t worry: we will give it everything as we do every time,” said Van Buyten.
