Winter sale madness begins today
It’s that time of year again. Beginning today, stores around Belgium will start lowering their prices by 30 to 40 per cent to clear winter stock. The unique sales period enforces stores to wait until 3 January, or else face fines if not obeyed. Each week of the sales will see prices drop further.
This year’s post-holiday sales period will be an important one for retailers that saw sales drop in 2013. This will be good news for shoppers as there is expected to be a lot of stock left on the shelves, and all of it needs to go.
Aside from economic uncertainty, warm winter weather has also had an effect on sales this season. Classic winter clothing has been harder to sell due to higher temperatures, so there should be plenty of winter attire left should the thermometer drop in the next few months.
