US singer and pianist Sarah McCoy to perform in Brussels on 8 November

12:22 31/10/2023

Flamboyant singer-songwriter Sarah McCoy is ready to entertain Brussels audiences in her High Priestess European album tour at Théâtre 140 in Schaerbeek on 8 November.

The American musician with a powerful voice and extrovert personality fuses jazz, blues and rock to produce an unforgettable sound and experience. Her song-writing is visceral, drawing on her personal relationships with both herself and those around her.

Raised in South Carolina, she was discovered by a French film director in a New Orleans bar before subsequently moving to Paris.

Under the wing of Canadian music producer Chilly Gonzales, who collaborates with Jarvis Cocker among other notable musicians, she released her first album in 2019, Blood Siren.

McCoy’s haunting voice is likened to Nina Simone, Billy Holiday and Amy Winehouse. While her second album High Priestess, produced by Gonzales and Renaud Letang, ventures into the pop world, emotional songwriting remains at the heart of her music.

Describing her second opus, she says: “I’m not sure anyone can define the “genre”, but it’s surprisingly friendly for the intensity of the music…”
