Underwear Museum and De Dolle Mol to move location

10:31 29/12/2015

Jan Bucquoy's famous Underwear Museum in Brussels will close its doors at the end of this year. The curator is searching for an alternative location. The museum is located in Rue des Eperonniers, not far from the Grand Place, above the legendary café De Dolle Mol. The café, a real institution in Brussels, will also have to close when the building's rental contract comes to an end in 2016, writes brusselnieuws.be.

The Underwear Museum, run by anarchist artist and filmmaker Jan Bucquoy, features the underwear of numerous well-known Belgians, including Brussels mayor Yvan Mayeur.

Because the Flemish Community will no longer provide funding for the museum, due to budget cuts across the culture sector, Bucquoy will have to leave the property when the lease expires. However, he promises to find a new location for the museum and the legendary pub, both popular gathering places for Brussels artists and dreamers since the 1960s.
