Twitter to open Belgian office

Twitter has announced it will open an office in Brussels at the beginning of 2015, where it will employ about five people, reports De Tijd. As Belgians becomes increasingly active on the social network, Twitter has decided it is time for a local office, in order to better reach advertisers.

Belgium currently has around 1 million active Twitter users per month, 40% of which are daily active users, making Belgium an important growth market for Twitter.

Bert Marievoet, former commercial director of De Persgroep Advertising, and current country manager of Twitter Belgium, will continue to manage the Belgian market from the Brussels office and provide support for Belgian advertisers on Twitter. Twitter currently supports Belgian customers from Amsterdam.
