Thousands of jobs already lost in 2014
The year is not even three months old, and already thousands of jobs have vanished. Three thousand jobs in Belgium have been lost due largely to company restructurings. But the main culprit has been bankruptcy, which has pushed the number up to 4,500.
There is a chance that some of the jobs can be saved if investors step in and save the companies, but 3,500 will definitely be out of the job according to figures compiled by Graydon consultancy.
Consultants say the problem could worsen as there are many more Belgian companies on the verge of bankruptcy. More layoffs will occur if the companies our unable to restructure. However, on a positive note, more job vacancies have appeared, showing that as some companies fail, others are stepping in with improved outlooks.
