Taxi voucher initiative launched to boost Brussels hospitality industry

A new initiative to boost the Brussels hospitality sector, which has been badly hit since the start of the health crisis, is to be launched by the federation which represents cafes, bars and restaurants in the city and Taxis Verts.

The cab firm is joining forces with Federation Horeca Brussels to offer customers vouchers worth €10 so that they can travel to restaurants and bars by taxi. The discount, in the form of a promo code, can be used when customers arrange a ride through the Taxis Verts mobile app.

"We want to support restaurants and bars in Brussels that, like the taxi industry, are going through a very difficult period since the start of the health crisis," said Jean-Michel Courtoy, CEO of Taxis Verts. The taxi company has set aside €50,000 in taxi rides for the initiative which hopes to encourage people to return to hospitality providers now that changes to the coronavirus restrictions allow more freedom to do so.

"Through this partnership, we wish to contribute to the resumption of activity in our respective sectors by facilitating the travel of Brussels residents,” Courtoy added. “The members of the Brussels Horeca Federation will thus be able to offer their customers taxi rides worth €10 so that they can travel to and from restaurants and bars."

For its part, the Brussels Horeca Federation, which represents the interests of SMEs and self-employed people in Brussels active in the hospitality sector, describes this partnership as "historic". "Never before has such an agreement been signed to stimulate and facilitate the movement of our members' customers," says Fabian Hermans, administrator of the Federation.
