SNCB seeks 1,800 new staff after record year

09:58 15/01/2020

The SNCB is looking to hire 1,800 staff this year, with the Belgian rail operator also announcing record passenger numbers over the past 12 months.

Figures released this week show the SNCB carried 253 million passengers in 2019, an increase of 11% over three years. The rail operator said the growth came both from commuter travel and leisure.

A new nationwide recruitment campaign is about to begin, with the SNCB looking for 470 new drivers, 240 guards and station managers.

Other job profiles are also in demand - including architects, technicians, auditors, procurement specialists, accountants, safety advisers and communication/marketing roles.

Recruitment days will be held in Brussels in February, while a "jobs train" will criss-cross the country on 21 March offering potential candidates more information.
