Sharp rise in women’s employment in Belgium

10:03 29/08/2014

The number of women working in Belgium has increased by 92% between 1985 and 2013. Among men, there was an increase of 16% over the same period, reports Le Soir based on data from the National Social Security Office (RSZ/ONSS).

The biggest increase is seen in the number of women working in certain sectors, such as banking and insurance, legal and accounting activities, social services, health care and the cleaning sector.

Currently, about 45% of the jobs in Belgium are held by women, up from 33% in 1985.

These numbers sound really good, until you dig a bit deeper.
It turns out the women are the majority of part time workers. If you choose to report this, you should report it fully, not partially. It would be best if you also include a link to the original report .
