Record turnout for 11th Museum Night Fever

21:26 04/03/2018

The 11th edition of Museum Night Fever attracted record visitor numbers, with 17,000 people taking part according to initial estimates from the organisers.

Some 27 Brussels museums stayed open on Saturday night until 2.00 - and 75% of participants were under 35 years old.

The participating museums recorded 68,000 entries between 19.00 and 2.00, meaning the average visitor took in four museums over the course of the night.

"All the museums have had a great night," the organisers said in a statement on Sunday. BELvue came top with 12,400, followed by Bozar on 10,100 and the Coudenberg on 4,700.

An estimated 3,750 people headed to the Museum of Ixelles for its closing bash ahead of a major renovation.

Among the museums taking part this year for the first time were the newly inaugurated House of European History in Parc Léopold and the Wardrobe of Manneken Pis.

Anyone with a Museum Night Fever pass can exchange it for a free ticket to any of the participating museums until the end of March.
