Stonemanor pledges to match donations in aid of BCC Ukraine Relief

22:27 04/03/2022

Expat grocer Stonemanor is urging its customers to join the humanitarian cause in war-torn Ukraine this weekend.

Store manager Ryan Pearce has pledged to match donations of food and toiletries by his customers in order to double the number of Stonemanor parcels heading out to Ukraine from the Brussels Christian Centre in Rhode-Saint-Genèse.

But customers haven’t got long as aid lorries carrying the goods are scheduled to head off on Sunday from the centre, located near the  Rhode-Saint-Genèse store.

Pearce has also organised for donation boxes to be placed in Stonemanor’s flagship store in Everberg. Customers buying British and Irish non-perishable products in both shops this Saturday (5 March) can place much-needed produce of their choice into the collection points near the cash tills.

“We thought we would do our bit by matching those items from our store. We are a community here and we wanted to do our bit to help the people of Ukraine,” said Pearce. “Anything people can spare such as core ingredients including cereals, soups and tinned fruit, will be really welcome.”

He added that the move has been positively received by customers who have until 19.00 on Saturday to donate what they can. Other similar aid initiatives will be considered in the future at Stonemanor. More info on the store’s Facebook page.
