Register now for open-air swimming in Brussels

14:42 01/07/2019

Registrations have opened for this summer's open-air swimming experiment in three Brussels ponds and lakes.

The project, named Expedition Swim, is led by outdoor swimming campaign group Pool Is Cool with the support of the Brussels environment minister and the municipalities of Brussels-City, Anderlecht and Watermael-Boitsfort.

The three locations are the Neerpede pond in Anderlecht (19-20 July), the Bois de la Cambre lake (27-28 July) and the Pêcheries pond in Boitsfort (3-4 August).

Only 50 bathers will be allowed in the water at any one time. The swimming zone is limited to 25m by 25m and bathing is limited to half an hour per registrant.

To register, fill in the form at www.expeditionswim.be

I hope this restricted initiative doesn't lead to the same disastrous pollution results as the initiatives encouraging people to go to the Foret de Soignes. Soiled nappies, tins, plastics of all sorts (containers, bottles, wrappers etc.) are now part of the forest environment.
