Treehouse and goats to take over WTC towers

Irma Farma is located on the lower deck of the WTC Towers 1 and 2

The neighbourhood organisation Up4North has starting building a ‘treehouse’ on the lower deck of the World Trade Center Towers I and II. Though there are no trees, the public will soon be invited to help build the community house, using found and recycled materials.

The roof space has been dubbed Irma Färma and will be open for activities starting on 1 June and running until the end of the year. At that point, works are set to begin on the towers.

The organisation is also planting a vegetable and herb garden and bringing in a herd of goats – or possibly sheep, they’re not quite sure yet. “The project won’t be complete by 1 June,” a spokesperson explained to Bruzz. “Visitors will be able to help us with the project.”

Contributors to the community DIY project will be able to fabricate their own flags, which will hang from the treehouses. Other organisations are also getting in on Irma Färma, including Flemish government workers, who plan a flower garden, and Brasserie Illegaal, which will provide a pop-up bar.
