New Ikea stores push sales up 11% in Belgium
The addition of two new Ikea stores this year in Hasselt and Mons (pictured) has contributed to an 11.2% sales increase for the Ikea Group in Belgium. Globally, the Swedish chain saw a 7.1% increase in sales in the financial year which ran until the end of August, writes Trends.
"In Belgium, Ikea Group this year reported a total revenue of €836 million,” the company reported Tuesday in a press release. “The successful opening of two new IKEA stores in Hasselt and Mons was clearly the most important growth factor, with the two branches drawing in more than 2.1 million visitors since opening in February.”
Ikea also has Belgian stores in Arlon, Anderlecht, Ghent, Hognoul, Wilrijk and Zaventem.
Ikea saw 7.1% more turnover worldwide. China, Australia, Canada and Poland are the fastest growing markets for the company, while Germany remains the strongest market.
