New cultural hub planned in Elisabeth Park pavilion
A new social and cultural hub will open in the former Bar Eliza pavilion in Elisabeth Park, after the site was awarded to the non-profit organisation behind several well-known Brussels projects.
The tender has been won by Bruxselair, the group behind initiatives such as See U, Circle Park and the recently launched Place Noord.
The pavilion, located in Koekelberg’s Elisabeth Park, is expected to be transformed into a lively meeting space combining culture and light hospitality.
The project aims to revitalise the site and respond to demand from residents for more accessible community spaces in the park.
“With the non-profit organisation Bruxselair, we are joining forces to make the pavilion a dynamic and lively place,” said alderman for local economy Ornela Prifti (PS).
“That is what all users and local residents of Elisabeth Park want: a place where culture, conviviality, and light hospitality come together.”
The pavilion has been closed in recent years, but local authorities see its reopening as an opportunity to strengthen social life in and around the park.
Bruxselair has built a reputation in Brussels for temporarily repurposing urban spaces into cultural hubs, often combining events, food and community activities.
