10:45 07/10/2013

Manchester United’s Brussels-born teenage sensation, Adnan Januzaj, is being monitored by the England football team, according to national boss Roy Hodgson. The 18-year-old midfielder scored twice on his full debut as United came from behind to beat Sunderland 2-1. Januzaj has been at Old Trafford since 2011, and Hodgson told the BBC’s Match of the Day programme he could one day play for England. "There's no doubt that he's a real talent and we have our eyes on him but a lot will have to be discussed," said Hodgson. "He's been with United for a long period of time and of course that discussion will have to be seriously debated before we start naturalising players.” Januzaj, who is of Kosovan descent, is eligible to play for several other countries including Belgium, Albania and Turkey. Manchester United boss David Moyes admitted in his post-match news conference that the Football Association had been in touch with the Old Trafford club about Januzaj's eligibility. "There is some way he has a chance of qualifying for England through residency," said Moyes.

Another gifted teenager, PSV Eindhoven’s Zakaria Bakkali, is also still to make his mind up whether to play for Belgium or Morocco after being named in the Belgium squad for this month's World Cup qualifiers, reports . Although the 17-year-old forward was called up for the forthcoming qualifiers against Croatia and Scotland, he Dutch media he was yet to choose between Belgium and Morocco, the country of his parents. Bakkali has been named in the Belgian squad on two occasions but hasn’t made his debut yet. Should he play in one of the qualifiers, he would automatically commit himself to the Red Devils.
