Local director raising money for documentary about Brussels
The young Belgian director Thomas Van Deursen is looking for money to make a documentary about Brussels, and in particular the pedestrian zone around Rue Anspach. He needs at least €3,750 to buy the equipment necessary to produce the film, an amount he hopes to raise through crowdfunding.
The director wants to create a documentary that shows the true face of Brussels, and how it has changed after the introduction of the pedestrian zone. Van Deursen, who was born and bred in Brussels, wants to show that Brussels is, above all, a colourful city. "A lot of people think Brussels is grey, but that's because of the weather and the buildings. The city has never looked grey to me," he told Brusselnieuws.
"I also want the documentary to provide answers to some of the questions that many people have about the pedestrian zone, such as where the idea came from in the first place, and what have been the consequences of that decision," he told the news website.
Van Deursen's "visual tribute" to the city will cost at least €3,750 for the purchase of cameras, microphones and cables. He is hoping to collect the money through crowdfunding, and has so far raised more than €500.
