Tickets now on sale for low-cost rail service between Brussels and Paris
A new low-cost train line connecting Brussels with Paris in three hours goes into service from 19 December, reports Belga.
Ouigo rail service – a collaboration between SNCB and SNCF – is already selling one-way tickets priced between €10 and €59 and a fixed price of €8 for children.
Three daily return trips are scheduled in each direction, with the line also serving Mons as well as Aulnoye-Aymeries (North) and Creil (Oise) in France.
The new service strengthens the offer of high-speed trains that currently connect the two capitals in just over 1.20 hours.
It comes into operation two-and-a-half years after the discontinuation of the Izy service, launched by Thalys in 2016 and linking Brussels to Paris in 2.5 hours.
During the Olympic Games this summer, SNCB ran daily Eurocity trains between Brussels and Paris with a stop in Mons.
Despite being long overdue and running massively over budget, the Hainaut capital finally boasts a multi-modal flagship station. Citizens in the Mons region also welcome a more efficient rail link with the French capital following the cancellation of the Walloon Thalys service in 2015.
