Integrated Audi school is a success
Four years after the launch of the integrated school project, in which car manufacturer Audi offers internships to students at KTA Pro Technica high school in Halle, the company has decided to extend the agreement.
For the students in the sixth year of electro-mechanics, the time they spent in the car factory wasn’t like a normal internship. During the course of a school year, they get more than 600 hours of practical classes at Audi, in the Brussels district of Vorst. This way, they come into contact with the most modern technology and are well prepared to enter the labour market.
Three students were even invited to follow a three-year-programme in Wolfsburg, Germany, where the company’s headquarters are. During the programme, the students can follow a Bachelor or Master course of their choice, and while studying, they can rely on Audi for internships, final projects and holiday jobs.
“In a factory like Audi you learn much more than a school can teach you,” says one of the three students. “Here we can work simultaneously on different car types, which is never possible at school.”

Very very proud of these young people who are learning skills to enter the labor market. Yes, Audi is also using this as a good marketing tool. However, young people who are not destined for university need to learn a trade/skill and be prepared for post secondary. BRAVO -- this apprenticeship/school project/training should be emulated throughout the country.
