Festival Musiq3 presents family concert at Marni on 30 June

15:35 25/06/2024

The musical theatre show Insectarium pays tribute to the fascinating world of tiny creatures in a family performance at Marni on 30 June at 14.00.

Combining music, theatre and poetry, the event is designed for children aged between the age of seven and 13.

The concert is part of Musiq3 Festival, the Brussels leg of the famous Festivals of Wallonia that runs over the summer and early autumn. This series of seven festivals offers a programme of over 150 concerts on a shared theme, which this year is Nature. In addition to classical music, they offer eclectic musical genres and activities.

For the 14th edition of the Brussels leg of the festival, the thematic reflects Brussels’ rich cultural biodiversity. Like nature, the artistic world is in constant metamorphosis, adapting shapes, sounds and colours to transcend boundaries of time and space to create connection and wonder.

Insectarium is a musical composition for piano with Marion Maurel and Sophie Vindrios (Hælix duo) striking and caressing the keyboard to evoke the rustling of a wing and the frantic movement within an insect hive.

They are accompanied by texts read by Victoria Lewuillon and Astrid Akay, which form a perfect dialogue with the music. Virginie Tasset is the creator and composer of the project that incites empathy for the adventures of these little much-maligned creatures.

From spiders and caterpillars to ants and dragonflies, these stories about their daily lives raise questions about cohabitation, racism and the importance of the imagination.

“It is a sensitive, participatory and moving piece from which we do not come away indifferent,” say the project’s creators.
