Expat Financial Affairs: Free seminar 3 October
If you’re looking for answers to a financial or administrative problem, register now for the third edition of this day-long seminar. Especially designed for expats living in Belgium, it offers workshops and presentations by expert speakers. Sponsors and participating companies will welcome visitors at stands. The event is being staged at Vlerick Business School in the city-centre.
“There are plenty of opportunities to ask specific questions, talk to people on stands and get follow-up advice,” explains Glenn Vaughan, chief executive of the British Chamber of Commerce in Belgium which is organising the seminar. “The target audience is English-speaking non-Belgians. They may come from all walks of life and are probably international in outlook,” he adds.
“They may be short- or long-term stayers in Belgium. If they are here for a few years, then they need a particular kind of portable solution. Others may be here for 20 years but can still find the system difficult or intimidating.”
The chamber set up the event after recognising expats’ need for specialised advice. “Where do you go for advice? You have your bank and a few other sources. We can bring together these companies and institutions because we are a trusted neutral player. We are also informal and friendly with a welcoming approach,” says Vaughan.
Visitors can dip into the various activities during the day. A full programme will be published closer to the date, but an overview of some of the topics covered can be found here.
Along with main partner BNP Paribas Fortis, companies present at the event are BDO, Group S, PartenaMut, ERYV, Baker Tilly Belgium, ING, DYP International School, The Fry Group, Professional Investment Consultants, Maasmechelen Village, Santa Fe Relocation Services, Berquin Notaries, and MyMicroInvest.
