The Europe Brussels Welcome Desk: your expat Q&A professionals

12:28 13/05/2014

Questions, questions and more questions...
Whether you're an expat having just arrived in Brussels or have been here a while and just never got around to getting officially settled in, your mind’s probably flooded with questions: how do I register at the commune? Can I work? Do I need to exchange my driving license? What taxes do I pay? Can I vote?

Obviously, you’re not alone: expats in Brussels often ask these and many other questions, on everything from work permits and rental contracts to where to learn French. To make sure you’re getting the right answers to these questions, Brussels Capital Region has set up the Expat Welcome Desk, a free, independent one-stop shop offering assistance with any practical or legal issue that may arise during your stay.

Your Brussels Q&A Experts
A part of the Europe.Brussels Liaison Office (BELO), the Expat Welcome Desk has more than 20 years’ experience helping some 90,000 expats get settled in the European capital. Check out their presentation here to learn more about they help expats get ‘un-lost’ in Brussels.

Many paths to the right answer
With two offices and three team members on hand, the Europe Brussels Expat Welcome Desk is a real resource. What’s more, there are all sorts of ways to get in touch with them. If you prefer face-to-face contact, head to one of the BELO’s Welcome Offices (addresses below) where you’ll be warmly welcomed from 9.00 17.30 on weekdays. If this is not an option, the team can also answer questions by email, telephone or social media. Check out this helpful info-graphic for more details.
