El Arbi and Fallah to produce fourth Beverly Hills Cop
Brussels directors Adil El Arbi (above, right) and Bilall Fallah, who made an impression last year at the Toronto International Film Festival with their film Black, have just taken on a new opportunity in Hollywood: the directing duo will produce the long-awaited fourth installment of Beverly Hills Cop, reports the American online magazine Deadline.
“The studio (Paramount Pictures), producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Eddie Murphy have been working diligently to get the script and elements right for a film that had been once been slated to be released this year. They loved Black, and when they met with the filmmakers, they were charmed to discover how important the original Beverly Hills Cop was to them,” writes Deadline.
The first Beverly Hills Cop appeared in 1984, making Eddie Murphy an international star overnight. In the fourth film, written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, the actor again plays agent Axel Foley.
The new film is scheduled for release later this year or in early 2017.
