Delhaize recalls hazelnut spread over food safety concerns
Batches of Delhaize's organic hazelnut spread sold since 24 November are being recalled for containing mineral oils and hydrocarbons.
"Delhaize asks its customers not to consume the products and to return them to a point of sale," Belgium’s Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca) said.
The 400g Bio jars of Delhaize's own-brand version of the popular hazelnut spread Nutella are the ones affected.
"In the meantime, Delhaize has already removed every product concerned from its shops and has tightened the controls on this product and its supplier," reads the recall notice.
"The refund of any product concerned is assured. Delhaize would like to apologise for this inconvenience."
Other products of the same assortment are not affected and can be consumed without problem.
For more information, customers can contact Delhaize's customer service department via the toll-free number: 0800 95 713.
