Comic Strip Museum is first in Belgium to offer virtual visits

09:22 05/09/2014

The Belgian Comic Strip Museum in Brussels’ Sablon/Zavel district will soon offer virtual visits via Google Street View. A cart equipped with 15 cameras drove slowly through the museum yesterday, while taking 360-degree photographs.

Google Street View makes it possible to take virtual “walks” through the streets of many cities. The addition of a new web application now allows for a peek inside of a number of buildings. The Comic Strip Museum is the first museum in Belgium to offer virtual visits via Google Street View.

"A museum should evolve with the times and employ new applications," said Google press officer Tinneke Meijerman. “Experiences from other museums have shown that such a virtual tour helps to attract more visitors, not less" says Meijerman.

The Comic Museum requested to be photographed inside and out by Google Street View in celebration of its 25th anniversary in a few months.
