Call for Belgian consulate in Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s Industries minister Dilip Barua called upon the Belgian government to open a consulate in the country’s capital Dhaka in order to boost trade and business between the two countries, reports the Daily Sun. “Bangladeshis have to go to New Delhi for visas as there is no Belgian consulate here. If there was a consulate in Bangladesh it could help both countries to have increase business ties,” Dilip Barua said. Dilip Barua made this call while addressing, as guest of honour, a seminar on ‘Exploring Belgium-Bangladesh Business Opportunities’ held at the Ruposhi Bangla hotel in Dhaka on Sunday. The seminar had been organised by Flanders Investment and Trade, the Royal Embassy of Belgium in New Delhi, in association with the Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).
