Brussels North is next police zone to test bodycams

Police in the Brussels North zone, which includes the municipalities of Schaerbeek, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and Evere, will begin testing bodycams in January 2021, a police spokesperson has confirmed.

The agreement to start the test phase was given by the three local councils concerned, after discussions which took place between September and November. "Legal analysis and operational risk analysis will now be finalised to resolve the last logistical and practical issues," the police spokesperson added.

According to the latest discussions, there is talk of having the bodycams, eight different models of which were purchased earlier this year, tested by four or five brigades, particularly related to intervention and traffic duties. The test phase will be spread over a maximum of two months.
