A spectacular firework display is set to ring in 2025 from the Atomium on 31 December at midnight.

The return of the traditional display to the landmark Heysel site was announced by city mayor Philippe Close and culture alderwoman Delphine Houba.

Before the pyrotechnic extravaganza at the stroke of midnight, a DJ set will get the party going from 21.00.

All the practical information for the event will be announced shortly, said the city.

For the past two years, the end-of-year firework display has been staged at Place des Palais in the centre of Brussels. Some 55,000 people attended last year.

The Atomium hosted the New Year’s eve party between 2017 and 2019, while the following two editions were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
