Brussels lights up in Belgian tricolour for National Day

15:49 20/07/2017

In celebration of Belgium's national holiday on 21 July, many of the capital's monuments and buildings are illuminated in the Belgian tricolour: black, yellow and red, writes Bruzz.

Brussels Town Hall, Central Station and several major fountains and tunnels are lighting up for the occasion. The illumination of important buildings is slowly becoming tradition in Brussels, as in other major cities around the world. Special lighting is used to highlight festive occasions, such as a national holiday or pride parade, but also to commemorate the victims of tragic events, including terrorist attacks.
