Brussels launches open data portal for cultural events
The most extensive cultural agenda of the Brussels-Capital Region is now available as open data on the Brussels regional portal website opendatastore.brussels, reports Bruzz following a press release from Brussels state secretary for digitisation Bianca Debaets. The project is a collaboration between the Brussels Regional Informatics Centre and tourism information desk visit.brussels.
For the website agenda.brussels, visit.brussels collects more than 20,000 events, exhibitions and concerts annually. The information has now been made available as open data which developers can use to develop new applications around the cultural agenda.
"Why not an app that combines transport information and events," suggests Debaets. "Or one that provides hotel guests with a list of all the cultural events going on within a one-mile radius... The possibilities are endless.”
