Brussels to host first leg of Tiramisu World Cup

16:48 31/07/2019

Brussels will host the first selection round of the Tiramisu World Cup this October.

The first selection round will take place in the City2 shopping centre, while the second round will see amateur cooks assembling at the Hilton Brussels Grand Place hotel situated opposite Central Station.

The festival, currently in its third edition, is organised once a year by Treviso, the north-eastern Italian city where the competition’s semi-finals and final will also take place. The amateur cook who wins the competition will be gifted a trip to Brazil and professional cooking training.

The competition is open to amateur cooks who aren’t involved in gastronomy in any professional capacity. Participants can either stick to the traditional tiramisu recipe – lady-finger biscuits, mascarpone cheese, eggs, sugar, coffee and cocoa powder – or put their own spin on the beloved Italian dessert, in which case the competition rules mandate contestants use no more than three additional ingredients.

“City2 is very proud to host the Belgian round of the Tiramisu World Cup on 11th and 12th October,” said City2 shopping centre manager Jurgen De Gelas. “We attach great importance to the food experience. That’s why we warmly welcome the 40 participants in our shopping centre and wish them good luck for this contest.”
