Brussels falcon chick hatches from nest

10:01 07/04/2014

One of the eggs of a pair of falcons nesting in St. Michael and St Gudula cathedral, Brussels, started to hatch on Saturday, according to the website Falcons for Everyone. “Yes, one of the little falcons has well and truly started to dig its way out of its shell. We can clearly hear it chirping. After 32 days of incubation, they’ve arrived!” wrote the website about the peregrine falcons, whose nest is being streamed live on the internet. This is the eleventh consecutive year that the falcons have nested in a tower of the cathedral. Four eggs were laid this year. An observation post allowing the general public to view the eggs’ hatching and the growth of the chicks via telescope is open at the cathedral until May 25.
