Brussels exhibition highlights global plastic pollution problem

20:50 16/09/2019

A new exhibition visiting Brussels this week aims to raise awareness about the fight against plastic in our oceans.

Four shipping containers will be set up outside the Kanal-Centre Pompidou to house Ocean Plastics Lab from 19-30 September.

The travelling exhibition originated in Germany and has already visited Turin, Paris, Washington DC, Ottawa, Berlin and Lisbon.

Each year, somewhere between five and 12 million tonnes of plastic waste is discharged into the world's oceans, the equivalent of 35 shipping containers per hour.

The interactive exhibition introduces visitors to some of the most recent findings from marine pollution research - and explains how science can help undersand and tackle the plastic problem.
