British Steel wins €150m deal to upgrade Belgian railways

09:39 30/10/2018

A British firm has won a €150 million contract to help renew Belgium's rail network.

British Steel will provide 160,000 tonnes of steel, allowing network operator Infrabel to replace 3,000km of tracks.

The first deliveries will be next January, three months before the UK's 29 March exit date from the European Union.

Under the contract, the firm will supply about 40,000 tonnes of steel per year over four years.
