Brussels arts centre Bozar is celebrating a record year for visitors after welcoming 750,000 people to its hallowed halls in 2025, reports Belga.

The attendance figure for its extensive programme of exhibitions, concerts, performances and other events represents an increase of 20% compared to 2024.

Over the past 12 months, Bozar organised some 820 events, ranging from flagship art exhibitions and classical music concerts to film screenings, literary talks and festivals of various stripes.

More than half of the visitors came to discover one of the nine exhibitions offered by the institution this year, while 228,713 people attended one of its 200 concerts.

Another big draw during the summer months was the Horta building’s rooftop terrace, which attracted almost 30,000 visitors. Meanwhile some 50,000 participated in one of the 47 external events held in the arts centre.

In 2025, the federal institution’s central foyer, the Horta Hall, underwent refurbishment in a collaboration with architectural firm Giusto Van Campenhout and Belgian artist Michel François.

The lofty space was redesigned as a place to encourage visitors to spend time before or after an exhibition or event. Its redesign included an elevated floating structure out of semi-transparent voiles, a rug echoing the pattern of the hall’s marble floor and modular circular furniture.

The arts centre’s current exhibitions are the major Europalia flagship show Luz y Sombra: Goya and Spanish Realism and a homage to the pioneering American conceptual artist: John Baldessari. Parables, Fables and Other Tall Stories. Both are running until 1 February.
