Belgium wins the World Cup - in hockey

Belgium's men's hockey team has won the World Cup - in a nail-biting final against the Netherlands that ended with a 3-2 penalty shootout.

The win for the Red Lions comes after the team picked up silver in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The Red Lions - who finished fifth in the World Cup four years ago - are now ranked the world's best side, followed by Australia and Argentina.

Belgian defender Arthur Van Doren was named the tournament's best player. "I could not be more proud of this team," he said. "We're world champions and deservedly so."
