With a temperature of 20.8°C in Uccle on Sunday, it was officially the warmest November day ever recorded in Belgium. The previous record was on the same day last year, when the temperature reached 20°C, announced the Royal Meteorological Institute of Belgium (RMI).

The RMI at the same time published its monthly report, showing that October was the coldest month of October since 2003, with an average temperature of 10.2°C, while the average temperature is 11.1°C.

October was also unusually dry, with a total rainfall of 40.9 mm, compared to the average 74.5 mm. Not a single storm passed over Belgium in October, whereas there are normally about six in the month. In terms of sunshine, however, October was an average month, with 106 hours of sunshine.
