Belgian Lottery winners leave €5.5 million unclaimed

19:57 13/12/2015

The National Lottery in Belgium last year recovered €5.5 million in profits that were never claimed by the winners. The amount is less than 1% of the total €637 million in Lottery winnings paid out last year, writes La Libre Belgique.

The bulk of the undistributed profits, €2.9 million, was intended for EuroMillions winners. An additional €2 million was never claimed by winners of the Classic Lotto game, and the remaining €600,000 was meant for winners of other instant games.

The National Lottery recovered the unclaimed funds, which it will eventually donate to various charitable organisations.
