Arts at Night: Get ready for a special evening programme in Brussels on 3 July

Major cultural institutions in Brussels’ Mont des Arts are preparing to open their doors to the public at dusk on 3 July.

The Royal Library (KBR), Bozar and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium are joining forces for Arts at Night, a nocturnal event that features art shows, performances and DJ sets. Access to all three venues is via one entrance ticket.

For this second edition, entitled Shifting Gazes, the three museums offer exhibitions, performances in transformed spaces, live music and sunset views from rooftops in “a unique nocturnal journey through ever-shifting ways of seeing,” said the institutions in a joint statement.

At the KBR, visitors can follow the temporary museum trail In the footsteps of Bart Van Loo and the Burgundians. Brussels’ heritage intertwines with contemporary perspectives in this dialogue with the library’s medieval manuscripts.

Meanwhile, Bozar’s exhibition Picture Perfect. Beauty through a Contemporary Lens is a provocative and playful look at how some 65 modern and contemporary artists have challenged the norms of physical and beauty since the 1960s (pictured, main image). The arts centre also invites visitors to discover the installation Bozar Monumental by Delcy Morelos; an immersive experience in the vast Horta Hall space.

For the nocturnal event, the Old Masters Museum at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium proposes its current presentation Art x Gender. This trail shows the permanent collection through a fresh lens: one that explores the connections between art, identity and representation.

In addition to these special openings, each venue stages performances, screenings and DJ sets, transforming the Mont des Arts into a lively cultural hub.

The rooftops of Bozar and KBR also offer drinks, music and a summer vibe with panoramic views across the city centre. A food truck in the quarter enables visitors to refuel during the evening.
