App and information boards for regional cycle routes

The ICR is a network of regional bicycle routes leading from the communes on the outskirts of Brussels to the city centre along primarily calm roads and flat terrain. By 2017, the routes will be lined with information boards, announced Pascal Smet, public works and mobility minister for the Brussels-Capital Region. There will also be an app with a clear overview of the routes.

Brussels Mobility and various cycling associations have complained for some time that the ICR is unknown to the general public. Minister Smet is now responding to their concern by placing information boards at the start of each route, as well as at major intersections.

The regional bicycle route network was conceived in 1993 but so far only half of the planned routes are completed. In the past year, the routes were fitted with signposts, but without any further explanation.
