Already 80 women signed up for abortion campaign
So far, 80 Belgian women have volunteered to be photographed for a public awareness campaign on abortion, reports De Standaard.
"What do you call a woman who has had an abortion? Your mother, your sister, your friend", reads the poster in an abortion awareness campaign conducted in the UK a few years ago. Now, Belgian abortion support organisations want to do something similar, but with photographs of real women who have in the past chosen for abortion, not models.
The organisations made a call for volunteers in late September. "After the first day, we had 26 women, and today we have 80," says Tom Nys, head of the campaign in relation to the 25th anniversary of the Belgian Abortion Law.
"This is more than we could have hoped for. The youngest is 20, the oldest 75. They come from all over the country and from all social classes. They perfectly illustrate what we want to say with the campaign: that unplanned pregnancy is a fact of life, and that it can happen to anyone."

This is sad. 80 women who are not ashamed of having killed an innocent person whose life depended on theirs for a few months. I would be happier seeing a campaign to raise public awareness of the baby drop box where unwanted babies can be left in complete anonymity to be adopted by a family who will love and want them.
Why on earth should there be a campaign of this kind? Last time I checked, people have no problems making selfish decisions - it's the unselfish ones that need more public awareness.
What a nice example of society in regress! Naturally I do not support abortion and I will never understand people who decide to kill their own baby. Even though I understand there may be different reasons for doing so (and i am not the one who will judge it), it's crazy that a person would go as far as being proud of it. 25th Anniversary of Abortion Law, seriously guys WTF!!???
I am shocked! The comments on this article must have come from XIII century! While you are condemning people who choose to have an abortion ( without even caring about their reasons), why don't you suggest burning all the red haired people as witches too!
Sophiad, of course there are so many excellent reasons to kill a baby. Technically it would be ideal if we would have a chance to do it, also shortly after the birth... Not for too long, but let say up to 1 month to decide whether to keep it alive or not. Imagine a situation in which economical situation of parents (lost job) would suddenly change, why put parents under such stress. Or worse if the baby was not particularly attractive? This what I would call 21st century and enlighten society. Existing abortion laws are too restrictive and simply show how limited and backward we are.
