Airport traffic leads to jam from Brussels Ring Road
Traffic on its way to Brussels National Airport has been backed up to the Brussels Ring Road since early hours of Monday morning. Many travellers are getting out of their cars to walk in order to catch their plane on time.
Traffic began queuing up around 6.30 this morning on the A201, the link between the Brussels Ring Road and the airport. The jam continued to worsen until 9.00, but had improved slightly by 11.00.
Photos shared on Twitter show people getting out and walking the rest of the way to the airport. The traffic congestion is a direct result of the increased security measures introduced since the March terror attacks at the airport, with police inspecting every car upon entry.
The buses of De Lijn and STIB are again operating service to the airport since last week, however the airport train station has not yet restored service.

What a complete and utter bloody farce.
MikeK: Thank you for your input, very helpful.
It was not meant to be helpful and was about as helpful as your comment, Mr Harris.
Probably the result of more typically careful, well thought-out planning.
I agree Mikek.
But if you want helpful solutions. Close the airport permanently and build a high-speed rail link to Charleroi. That would reduce traffic congestion, air pollution and reduce noise pollution from all these aeroplanes constantly flying over my house and it would make the anti-Wathelot protetsers happy.
